What does it take to get us together?

Over 5 hours worth of driving on Highway 2. From the map of Alberta, we cover a lot of ground between each of our homes, but when we're together, Harmony abounds!

If we meet in Red Deer, Lyle comes down from Edmonton, Bernie pops in from Lacombe, and Don comes up from Olds while Bruce makes the trip just from the north end of Red Deer. Of course, we rotate the locations to give us all plenty of time on Highway 2

In the early days of this highway, the goldrush was about to happen, the commonwealth was about to add a province called Alberta, and an art form called Barbershop Harmony was about to organize a society to preserve this form of close harmony a cappella singing.

Today, these four do their part to perpetuate the style, and in the process, certainly have fun doing it! Next to Barbershop, we all love driving too! Check out the Bio's...

Don, Lead

A relative "newbie" to barbershop, Don is doing everything he can to learn this great hobby. He is extremely enthusiastic about barbershop and the chorus. He is the chapter president and an excellent one at that! Don drives a 2001 Ferrari.

Bernie, Baritone

Though not new to barbershop, Bernie is new to Canada. He hails from the UK, where he spent sometime in BABS (the British Association of Barbershop Singers). A lovely bari voice, he is a welcome edition to any quartet and we are so pleased to have him a part of our group. Bernie drives a 2002 Lamberghini
Bruce, Tenor
Here's a guy with a wealth of experience and yet has a continuing thirst for more knowledge about striving for excellence in this artform. As well, he is an excellent vocal coach and provides plenty of valuable coaching for both the quartet and the Red Deer Chorus as V.P., Music & Performance. He is the first guy to say "Let's sing something!" and the last guy to quit singing. Bruce drives a 2000 Aston Martin
Lyle, Bass
Another new guy to Alberta, Lyle hails from Ontario district and brings huge enthusiasm, lots of fresh ideas and undying love for ringing chords. As well, he provides plenty of behind-the-scenes support (and humour) and is the author of a number of Barbershop Web Sites. Lyle drives a 2002 Jaguar "S"
At the June 2002 Division III Competition, this quartet places 8th of 13 competing Quartets.  That's great, considering that two of the guys have never competed before, and this is the first Quartet experience for Don.  Definitely a fun one!

Here, at the Convention, the guys sing to some folks in the lobby of the Red Deer Lodge.

Too much fun - singing at the Convention Afterglow
