“Bandstand Saturday Nite” Features ‘50s Favorites On Nov. 21

Remember Bill Haley and the Comets, Bobby Darin and Rock Around The Clock? Travel back to the 1950s and join Chisholm Trail Chorus Saturday, November 21, for “Bandstand Saturday Nite” at the Cultural Activities Center (CAC) in Temple.

Poodle skirts and bobby socks are all the rage again as the group performs hits such as “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Lollipop” and “We Go Together.” Showtimes are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and $10 and are available at the CAC Box Office or on the web at: www.evg.org/chisholm.

Chisholm Trail Chorus of Sweet Adelines International is a women's a cappella show chorus that presents jazz vocals, choreographed pop tunes and award-winning harmony to the community through weekly education classes and frequent performances throughout Central Texas. They have showcased their talents at the Bloomin’ Temple Festival, the HEB Feast of Sharing, the City of Temple’s senior holiday banquet and even the Daughters of the Republic of Texas State Convention.

The chorus, directed by Carol Scherer, is comprised of more than 40 Central Texas women from Temple, Belton, Troy, Waco, China Spring, Lott, Copperas Cove, Killeen, Harker Heights, Lampasas, Lometa, Bartlett, Rogers, Georgetown, Round Rock and Austin. The chorus holds weekly rehearsals on Thursday at the Cultural Activities Center (CAC), 3011 North 3rd St. Visitors are welcome.

The November show is a major fundraiser for the non-profit group. Underwriters include Dr Sean Burgest of the Georgetown Pain Clinic, Ann and Dennis Turk of Belton and Concentus Media Group. For more information, view their website at: www.evg.org/chisholm or call 254-982-4873.
