Spring Show "You Should Hear Us Now" - March 19, 2005(photography by Anna van Thienen) Well, our spring show went pretty well. We did two shows in Vernon and one in Kelowna, and especially our evening show in Vernon was well received.
The choreography was complex, almost impossible, with 40 dressed up guys roaming the stage (various professions in a street scene), seemingly at random, and sing songs in between. In addition there was the odd skit scattered in there, using the theme of whatever song we were singing.
One of the skits was during the song Hello Mary Lou, where Mary Lou was this cow - with two of our younger choristers in her bowels - and one of our baritones was the farmer. After we were finished singing the song, Mary Lou stayed on stage and the guest quartet, the Boon Brothers, came on stage in male bovine costumes and sang another song with Mary Lou as the focus - really cool.
The Boon Brothers are from Dutch dairy farmer origins in Mount Vernon, Washington. A great bunch of guys!!
After the Boon Brothers show we got into our performance garb (black shoes, pants, tuxedo shirt and bowtie, and custom-made vests) and sang the remainder of the repertoire.
What a handsome looking bunch of old geezers, eh? The next bunch of photos are some more behind-the-scenes looks at our motley crew.
