2005 Evergreen District Convention

The Stampede City Chorus welcomes Evergreen District Barbershoppers and enthusiasts to Calgary for the 2005 District Convention.  The local committee has taken the initiative to make the 2005 Evergreen District Convention a complete experience for Quartet & Chorus Contests by adding a wide variety of convention activities.  We hope that you agree that the 2005 Evergreen District Convention will be an event that you will not want to miss.  We look forward to welcoming you to experience our hospitality this Fall in Calgary.

Videos were made of all Quartet and Chorus Contest Sessions.  Please click here to send an e-mail to request a DVD for your quartet or chorus.  Quartet videos include performances from both contest sessions if applicable.  Chorus videos include the view from the audience and a second recording from behind the shell looking at the Director.  Please provide a mailing address - an invoice for $10 CDN/$8 USD will be sent with the DVD.   E-mail contact for videos:  StampedeCC@telus.net 

Convention Highlights include:

Convention Theatre	The Convention will make use of the Jubilee Auditorium which is being renovated for the 100th Anniversary of the Province of Alberta.  This 2500+ seat theatre will provide an excellent location for the Chorus and Quartet contests and for the Show of Champions on October 1, 2005.
Show of Champions	The Show of Champions will be a feature event of the Convention including the top Quartets and Choruses from the competitions that weekend and also the 100+ man Alberta Barbershop Centennial Chorus made up of barbershoppers from across Alberta.
Midnight Madness Afterglow	After a weekend of Contests and an outstanding Show of Champions, the "Midnight Madness" Afterglow will bring great entertainment to wind up the convention including Medalist Quartets from the Contest, QCED Evergreen Quartet Champs, the 2005 International Quartet Champions, Realtime, and special guests "The Heebee-jeebees", a local world-class acappella group.
Headquarters Hotel	The headquarters hotel is the Hyatt Regency in downtown Calgary.  Other hotels are available in downtown Calgary and along the C-Train (LRT) transit line.
Local Transportation	C-Train passes are included with each All-Events Registration.  With the Headquarters Hotel and Convention Theatre along the C-Train line, convention attendees can easily get to convention events.
Convention Events	Several events are planned to make the 2005 District Convention much more than just a Quartet and Chorus Contest.  Participate in the workshops & seminars or bring your pitchpipe to the tag-singing room.  All attendees not competing in the chorus contest can participate in the Joe Barbershop Chorus which will be the Mic Testers for the Saturday Chorus Contest.
Partner Activities	When not taking in Quartet and Chorus contests, several activities are available including a Ladies Breakfast, downtown shops and activities, and a spa in the HQ Hotel.  Check out the Sightseeing page for more info.
Anniversary Celebrations	2005 will mark two special anniversaries.  In 2005, the Stampede City Chorus will be celebrating it's 50th Anniversary as a chapter in the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA).  2005 is also the 100th Anniversary of the Province of Alberta.
