Pure Silver
Pure Silver was born from a group of barbershoppers
called "The Daytimer’s". As they sang together more and more,
their personalities and voices began to mesh, and in the fall of 2003 the
foursome registered their choice of names. At first glance one might think the
name comes from their collective hair tint. They’d like to think it is
more reflective of their sound as being as pure as a silver bell. There could
have been some sentiment in the choice as well since baritone, Jerry Kelly and
lead, Skip Olmsted have sung together for more than
ten years including the popular “Silver Bay Mudflats”.
- Skip Olmsted
(lead), has been quarteting
since high school and sang with Olympic Community College,
- Jerry Kelly
(baritone) is a retired Electronics Engineer from Keyport. He has been Barbershopping for more than twelve years. He enjoys
adding the middle harmony to the sound.
- Randy Calm
(bass) has been singing with the Chordsmen for more than seven years and also
sings both tenor and bass in his Church Choir. He is an Architectural
Glass Etching Artist with his own business, Phoenix Design South in
Belfair. His work graces many establishments and homes all over the
Northwest. Randy adds a bright solid foundation to the quartet.
- Jon Powless
(tenor) was a music major in his college days. He is currently the Chapter VP
of Marketing & PR for the Kitsap Chordsmen, and is very active with his
church, singing on the praise team and in another quartet called “Out of the
Blue”. He and his wife, René own and operate René’s Mailings, Inc. in
Port Orchard. Jon puts a bright ring on the top of the quartet.
The goal of Pure
Silver is to spread the joy of singing in the barbershop style,
entertaining as many people as possible with a high quality performance.
