A Partner in Caring
The Children’s Wish Foundation A "partner in caring" initiative: Chordial Invitation organized the entertainment portion of the second annual (2006) "Wishmaker Parade - the Walk for Wishes" held at Kerry Park in Kelowna on Saturday October 14, 2006. The event raised over $4000.00 for The Children's Wish Foundation. The funds will help the foundation continue its work granting wishes to deserving children. This year's line-up of fine entertainers included Pam Ferens, George Young, The Old Tyme Fiddlers, Late Harvest, KSS High School's Richard French Quartet and Chordial Invitation who also contributed to the day's activities by sponsoring the sound system. The Variety Club A "partner in caring" initiative: For the second year running, members of Chordial Invitation proudly spent the afternoon answering phones and helping out at the drive through location taking pledges during the 2006 Variety Club Radiothon, broadcast on radio station CKOV 63, Kelowna. The Radio-thon raised over $50,000.00. The funds raised go to support the ongoing work of The Variety Club, The Children's Charity. Central Okanagan Child Development Association ![]() A "partner in caring" initiative: Chordial Invitation worked with the Central Okanagan Child Development Association (COCDA) to help them meet the needs of their special clients. Chordial Invitation supported the Association at the 2005 FATCAT Children's Festival. At the festival, members guided children through 6 stations designed to teach able bodied children the challenges faced by their disabled counterparts. The favourite was the wheelchair race through an obstacle course - a definite challenge. The Chorus sang a few songs for the assembled crowd and it was hard to tell who had the most fun, the Chorus or the kids. Chordial Invitation is also working on a project to supply COCDA with a special desk that will allow children, especially those confined to wheelchairs, to access a touch screen computer. The challenge for the designer is to have a desk with a top that adjusts vertically to accommodate children and chairs of differing sizes. |
