For Men's Eyes Only

Chordial Invitation is the Kelowna, British Columbia Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society
We hold rehearsals and auditions at 7:30 PM every Tuesday evening starting on September 2, 2008 and YOU are chordially invited to pay us a visit any and every Tuesday evening.
Chordial Invitation
If you enjoy singing and would like to experience the joy of ringing chords in the unique close knit accapella harmony that characterizes the barbershop style, this is for you. Learn about our hobby, our chapter and the society. You are chordially invited to join us for an evening of fun, fellowship and song.

Chordial Invitation meets at the Birch Avenue Church located at 2410 Ethel Street (at the corner of Birch Avenue) in Kelowna.

"The Kelowna Chapter, Chordial Invitation has embarked on another revitalization process" says Ted Bajer, President of the Kelowna Chapter. "Even though we have been in existence since 1972, Chordial Invitation is likely still one of the best kept secret in town, but that is changing. We have strengthened our commitment to the society's vision of building a better world through singing".

Late Harvest quartet We will be renewing our Partner in Caring initiative to help a specific charitable organization meet its goals and objectives. We want to contribute to meeting their special needs and the very special needs of their clients. We will also continue our regular outreach program of performing at seniors residential complexes to bring some joy and music into their lives.

We are also proud to be home base for Late Harvest; the senior quartet champions from the spring 2005 division contest.

Based on the audience response to our November 2005 show Barbershop and Brass - a time to remember, the chorus joined forces with A Day Late and a Dollar Short, the Okangan Music Association's 2006 Bluegrass Band of the Year to present a follow-up performance on Sunday May 27, 2007. The show entitled Barbershop and Bluegrass - turn your radio on, combined the close knit accapella harmony characteristic of the barbershop style with hand clapping, toe tapping bluegrass tunes.

Barrie Clarke acted as our "radio host" and as he said, "This is Barrie Clark coming to you live and on location from the Mary Irwin Theatre. I’ll be your host for this very special broadcast entitled Barbershop and Bluegrass. We have an exciting show lined up for you today. We’ll do some reminiscing, spin a tale or two and hear some good old fashioned harmony… so please turn your radio on". To the audience's delight, Late Harvest also added their distinctive style to the performance.

One "listener" wrote in to say "I hope you will put it on again next year. I'll make sure I bring more friends to see it and listen to the wonderful songs. The idea of bringing in the Bluegrass band was fabulous. First the Barbershop, then the Bluegrass, and then the two together - couldn't be better!"

The next show in the series is entitled Barbershop and Beauty - turn your radio on again and we are targeting for the spring of 2009.

Proceeds from events like these are used to further our "Partner in Caring" initiatives.
