ABOUT US:

The Bullhook Bottoms Barbershop Chorus (BBBC) located in Havre, Montana gathers in fellowship to sing barbershop harmony music written for male voices.  We have fun mixing it up with traditional, seasonal and spiritual style songs.  Lately we've been incorporating some slightly more modern music, such as "doo wap" from the 50's and 60's.
The BBBC also has quartets for those members who are a bit more advanced in their harmonizing skills.  But we all started with "a frog in our throat" and anyone with an ear for music and a song in their heart is welcome.  We'd love to have you join in on the fun!

The Bullhook Bottoms Barbershop Chorus (named after the city of Havre's original colorful moniker) started as a quartet in the early 80's.  It expanded to an octet in 1988.  In June of 1989, the group was organized as a larger chorus and subsequently became affiliated with SPEBSQSA, now the Barbershop Harmony Society.

On November 2, 1990 we performed our first "really big show".  Working with local choral groups, as well as our Canadian barber shopper friends from as far away as Calgary, "Grandpa's Attic" came to life.  It was actually a small play interspersed with lots of barbershop music.  The show's guests included the Wild Rose Harmonizers (the ladies' barbershop group from Havre), the Gas City Barbershop Chorus from Medicine Hat and the Treasure Statesmen Chorus of Great Falls.

Via the Barbershop Harmony Society, some of the proceeds of that concert went to the

Institute of Logopedics.  Now called Heartspring, this speech correction center  treated hundreds of children in a music therapy program.

Down through the years we've entertained many audiences.  Some were a bit larger, some quite small.  And our shows have had a variety of themes.  But no matter what, we always enjoy the opportunity to bring a little music to your ears and a smile to your face.  As members move about in their lives, and in the chorus, we've had several music directors since the "Grandpa's Attic" performance.  Currently, Dr. Doug Safley serves as our primary music maestro.

We're always looking for individuals who like to have fun singing.  Give us a try... Click on the "Meeting Info" tab for the time and location of our weekly rehearsals.
